Elevate Your Break Room with Stainless Steel Equipment
When you think of a break room, you may think of toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators & microwaves. Did you know break rooms actually allow rejuvenation & boost productivity? According to Business News Daily, breaks can combat workplace burnout by up to 59%. This is why it is important to keep your break room fully stocked, clean & prepared for daily use. Stainless steel equipment surely has a role in this.
In this article, we’ll give 5 stainless steel products that can fit into any break room & offer up some IMC models to give you some reference. Let’s start.
1. Worktables – A Daily Driver
Worktables are an essential piece in any break room. They allow employees to set up their own food/drinks & can be used during consumption.
Most break room tables are made of cheaper materials like wood & plastic. Having a stainless steel worktable will not only take care of the durability issue, but it will give your break room a modern aesthetic. Cleaning & disinfecting worktables is easy too – taking no more than a soft rag, warm water & soap.
For break room applications, IMC offers Models #WT, #WTB, #WT1 & #FWT.
Model #WT is IMC’s standard worktable available in 14 or 16 gauge type 300 series stainless steel. Every part of the worktable is made of stainless steel; you will not find any galvanized or plastic parts in our design.
Model #WTB is the same as above except it has the addition of a 6″ high backsplash to protect your walls from damage. Model #WT1 features a 1½” backsplash.
For filling in those pesky gaps between equipment, Model #FWT can fill the role nicely thanks to its narrow profile. Have a look at some select worktables below:
2. Silverware Dispensers – Upgrade Your Storage
Forks, knives, spoons & spreaders are some of the most common silverware, but they need an organized place to stay in the break room. Silverware dispensers are here to help.
Silverware dispensers consist of multiple cylinders (made of nylon or stainless steel) designed to keep your silverware neatly separated. Silverware dispensers allow your employees to easily pick up their utensils & move on.
IMC offers Model #SD16H, which is constructed of 16GA type 300 series stainless steel. The product features 16 cylinder holes & the top is sloped for easy access. Standard nylon cylinders are included, but optional perforated stainless steel ones are available. The unit is also mounted on 5″ casters so it can be maneuvered around with ease. Here’s a look:
3. Hot/Cold Food Counters – For Small Foods/Snacks
If your break room is large enough, incorporating a hot/food counter will surely elevate your space to the top. Even better, adding a healthy snack bar is sure to win over your employees & satisfy everyone’s hunger.
For hot food counters – adding tiny snacks like pizza, small sandwiches or pretzels is a good idea. For cold food counters – adding mini salads, fruit slices or diced vegetables is recommended.
IMC offers several hot & cold counters, but for break room applications we recommend Models #SHF & #CFC.
Model #SHF is a hot food counter unit that is electrically heated with individual controls & feature heated drop-in pans for dry or wet use.
Model #CFC is a standard cold food counter equipped with ice pans (2-6 available). The unit also comes with an undershelf for extra stability & storage. Here’s a look at both units below:
4. Beverage Counters – Don’t Forget about the Drinks
Although water, coffee & tea are readily available in most break rooms, other sealed beverages may be available. This is where a beverage counter comes in handy. Beverage counter also offer storage for tools such as strainers or straws. All of this is an effort to stay organized & minimize the clutter.

5. Waste Receptacles – Keeping the Break Room Clean
Cleanliness in the workplace is important – the same applies for the break room. To promote this, having waste receptacles is a smart investment. However, most trash cans are made out of cheap aluminum or plastic & do not stand up to wear & tear. Having a stainless steel waste receptacle will take care of this issue.
IMC offers Model #WRC-2 which features a top & inner cabinet which contains a partition to separate the sections. The unit includes 2 plastic waste cans that can easily fit inside the base.
