IMC/Teddy Holds 3 Week Food & Fund Drive with Island Harvest

We Are A Proud Sponsor Of

There are more than 44 million people in the US that face hunger, including 1 in 5 children. In fact, in 2022, 49 million people turned to food assistance for extra help. It’s an ongoing issue which can be solved if we come together.

IMC/Teddy is always looking to give back to the community. With this in mind, IMC has recently partnered up with Island Harvest, a local Long Island food bank, for a 3 week food & fund drive. How did the journey go? Let’s recap:

About Island Harvest

Island Harvest is a leader in hunger-relief with a mission to end hunger & reduce food waste on Long Island, NY.

They are able to achieve these goals through efficient food & product collection & distribution systems. Island Harvest also conducts outreach programs that directly supports a wide network of community-based non-profit organizations, as well as individuals, veterans, families, & seniors.

Island Harvest is a proud member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks leading the fight against hunger in the U.S.

IMC Heeded the Call

IMC/Teddy internally announced its participation in a Food & Fund Drive on May 29, 2024. The drive officially began on June 3, 2024 and lasted until June 25, 2024. IMC’s inaugural goal was for 50 pounds of items donated. Over the course of those 3 weeks, IMC’s team contributed graciously to the cause & the boxes began to fill up.

On June 27, it was time for IMC to deliver the donations to Island Harvest. Upon arrival at Island Harvest, we were cordially greeted by Bena Halloran, who is Island Harvest’s Food Collection Coordinator. After an impressive tour of the facility, IMC donated $1,000 to Island Harvest in addition to the item contributions.

What Were the Results?

We are proud to announce that we far exceeded our expectations for our first Food & Fund Drive by donating a resounding 241 pounds of items! Using a conversion, this translates to 201 total meals supported.

As mentioned, IMC also donated $1,000 to Island Harvest. Every $1.00 donated supports 2 meals, totaling 2000 meals.

With the final tally, IMC supported a staggering 2201 meals for the duration of the drive. The team could not be happier with the outcome.

It’s Your Turn

IMC’s experience with Island Harvest was extremely positive & we are proud of the work we accomplished in just a 3 week span. Giving back to the community is something IMC has always wanted to achieve & we feel this is a great first step. In fact, IMC is planning on holding an annual Food & Fund Drive with the hopes of donating even more each year for those in need.
