“Anti-Splash Floor Trough” – What Does it Mean?

Floor troughs are one of the most imperative pieces of equipment you can have in any commercial environment. The combination of channeling liquids & ensuring safety is worth considering them alone. However, like almost any item, variations exist & each with their own purpose. Anti-splash floor troughs are just one type to investigate. What sets it apart from the other floor troughs & what makes it “anti-splash?”

In this article, we’ll go over the exact definition of an anti-splash floor trough & highlight some of the key characteristics. Let’s roll on.

Anti-Splash Floor Troughs – It’s All in the Name

The name itself might be self-explanatory, but it goes much deeper than that.

Anti-Splash Floor Troughs are specially designed to manage extreme, gushing liquids making them ideal for installation under a kettle, sink or a piece of equipment that will have excess spillage. They are the go-to product for any heavy liquids you might expect in your work area.

The fact of the matter is large pools of water left on the floor poses a safety risk for your patrons & employees. Anti-Splash Floor Troughs are designed to take care of this problem – all while preventing splashes back onto the floor.

The Anatomy of an (IMC) Anti-Splash Floor Trough

So, you know the definition – so how is the anti-splash property achieved? To start off, the trough depth is 6″, which is more than sufficient to oversee those heavy liquids. No splash guards are installed. A radius is carefully constructed to direct all splashing water to inside of the trough.

The trough is also pitched towards the drain so that water exits the trough properly. The drain itself is 6″ in diameter with a 4″ OD tailpiece. A removable basket strainer sits atop the drain to filter out large debris. Combine all of this with your choice of grating & you have a complete drainage system fully capable of handling any excess spillage.

Don’t forget – floor trough sizes are custom & the drain can be customized to fit your application as well.
