Your Essential Mediterranean Stainless Steel Equipment Guide

Mediterranean cuisine is widely regarded as one of the most diverse in the world, thanks to the unique flavors & colors. Cuisines from Turkey and Greece to Italy and Morocco, play a part in this thanks to the use of vegetables, fruits, spices & herbs of the region.

Often times, many of these styles are blended into Mediterranean-American eateries.  These eateries will occasionally incorporate elements from more than one of these regions creating a cohesive experience for guests. However, eateries must be well equipped with the right tools to even pull off such a feat. Is stainless steel involved?

In this article, we’ll give you a checklist of 4 stainless steel products that should be considered for your Mediterranean restaurant. We’ll also offer up some IMC products as examples. Let’s begin.

 Slicer/Mixer Tables

Bread equipment, slicers & panini grills are an absolute must for any Mediterranean restaurant. Bread is served with almost every dish while meats & sandwiches also play a vital role. With these food items in place, you’ll need slicer/mixer tables to house these pieces of equipment.

IMC offers Models #SMT & #SMTS. SMT is a stainless steel mixer table with a 14-gauge top & an 18-gauge undershelf. The low height (30″) is ideal for operating any machine. SMTS is similar but has the added feature of tray slides, which can hold your bread & pastries. Here’s a look:

  Cold Food Counters

Seafood is a signature item in Mediterranean cuisine, so this means a seafood bar is in order. A raw seafood bar requires cold wells so cold food counters are just the ticket. Seafood must be kept at the optimal temperature at all times – this can only be achieved through use of a cold food counter.

IMC offers two cold food counters, Model #CFCR & Model #CRBC.

CFCR includes a fully integrated refrigerated cold pan. The unit can be fitted with 2-6 ice pans, depending on your application. The refrigerated unit keeps cold air pumping into the ice pans for a constant flow.

For large & high traffic seafood bars, we recommend considering Model #CRBC. CRBC is IMC’s premiere cold food counter. The unit is fully equipped with a mechanical refrigeration unit, cold pan & stainless steel panels welded to the framework. The unit is designed for the longest possible storage of cold food for extended periods of times. Here’s a peek:

 Worktables

Mediterranean cuisine requires several machines including pasta makers, juicers, broilers & graters. However, the signature dish of most Mediterranean cuisines is falafel. Falafel requires a special deep fryer & these machines can be quite cumbersome. Worktables will work nicely for these. Also, as mentioned earlier, Mediterranean cuisine is about colors & presentation so you will need a dedicated area to prepare your dishes. Having a multiple flat top surfaces organized in a sensible way will make serving smooth & quick.

To help, IMC offers Models #WT#WTB, & #WT1. Model #WT is IMC’s standard worktable available in 14 or 16 gauge type 300 series stainless steel. Model #WTB is the same as above except it has the addition of a 6″ high backsplash to protect your walls from damage. Model #WT1 features a 1½” backsplash. Here’s a breakdown:

 Accessory Cabinets

Mediterranean cuisine has no shortage of tools. Examples include small spice grinders, mortar & pestle, shuckers & so on. These items need a safe spot to be stored once service has completed. Accessory cabinets are here to serve that purpose.
