3 Reasons to Consider an IMC Milk Counter for Your Operation

Milk is one of the most popular food items in the world. Why? Because it happens to be one of the healthiest. With that said, milk is a staple of almost any buffet or cafeteria operation. Although one issue rears its head when serving milk: properly storing it. Here’s where IMC’s milk counter solution comes into play.

In this article, we’ll break down IMC’s own milk counter & give you 3 reasons to consider one for your operation. Let’s start.

Model #SMC – The Ultimate Milk Storage Solution

Model #SMC is IMC’s refrigerated modular serving system designed for one thing: keeping your milk at the correct temperature for serving. SMC’s top is constructed of 16-gauge stainless steel & the frame is constructed of 14-gauge stainless steel. Both utilize type 300 series stainless steel. The thick, durable construction of the stainless steel is guaranteed to store your milk securely.

The heart & soul of SMC is the built-in mechanical refrigeration unit. The unit is designed to maintain 38°F temperature (which is comfortably below the 40°F storage temperature requirement for milk) & features a self contained system & a cold wall surrounding interior liner. Louvered access panels are provided for proper ventilation. SMC comes equipped with a 5’ long cord & plug so just hook it up, give it some time to warm up & you are ready to serve.

The cabinet itself is fully insulated with 2½” foamed in place polyurethane, which includes removable insulated covers with lift type handles. A self-leveling stainless steel dispenser is also standard. The cabinet comes with a 1” O.D. drain with valve for liquid drainage.

You’re going to need a unit with casters so it can be moved around your facility. For this reason, SMC features 5″ heavy duty swiveling casters. This allows your milk counter to be moved indoors or outdoors easily. When service has concluded, the counter can simply be wheeled inside for storage and/or cleaning.

Let’s break down SMC below:

So, Why Consider One?

A milk counter is an item that cannot be overlooked for your dining operations. Here are 3 reasons that they are essential:

1. Refrigeration – Milk MUST be stored at the correct temperature during all service hours, or else spoilage may occur. As mentioned earlier, 40°F is the ideal temperature for storing milk. A milk counter alleviates this problem by providing a safe haven, allowing you to serve up refreshing cold milk for the duration of the service.

2. Organization – Milk can come in high quantities, especially in larger buffet/cafeteria faculties. You’ll need an efficient way of organizing milk especially if multiple flavors are provided during service. Keeping organized is the key for a successful operation. A milk counter is just the ticket.

3. Versatility – As with all IMC modular serving systems, customization is present. A useful option is a tray slide so patrons can rest their trays comfortably while picking up a milk bottle/carton. Another practical option is swapping out casters for legs with bullet feet, which transforms the counter into a stationary unit if you so desire.
