Let’s Answer Your Mobile Bowl Stand Questions

Mixing bowls are an essential piece in any kitchen operation. They are primarily used in cafeterias, baking, dining hall or other foodservice establishments. However, mixing bowls can become quite cumbersome & unpredictable through the course of a typical workday. Mobile bowl stands are here to alleviate the issue. Are you getting the most out of your mobile bowl stand?

In this article, we’ll go over 4 main questions about IMC mobile bowl stands. We’ll touch on usage, sizes, configurations & some maintenance tips. Here’s question #1.

1. What is the Purpose of a Mobile Bowl Stand? Do I Need More than One?

Mobile bowl stands offer the ability to hold your mixing bowls to perform simple tasks. These tasks may include marinating meats, blending soups, adding ingredients for pastries, mixing batters, tossing salads, coating chicken wings & more.

So, what are the benefits?

First & foremost, IMC mobile bowl stands are easy to move all around the kitchen. Put the bowl in the stand & move it to dry storage, to prep area, or to a washing area quickly & easily.

Furthermore, by having a mobile mixing bowl stand in your commercial kitchen, you’ll be able to reduce the number of trips you must make from your walk-in refrigerator to your prep station because you can simply take your mixing bowl with you. At a convenient working height, using the stand is intuitive & natural.

The question of whether you will need more than one depends on how much activity you will be anticipating & the nature of your establishment. For example, if you are operating a bakery, investing in more than one stand is almost mandatory as you’ll need multiple mixing bowls for doughs & other ingredients.

Overall, think of a mobile bowl stand as a support piece for your daily tasks.

2. What Sizes Do They Come in? What Size Bowls Can They Accommodate?

At IMC, we manufacture Model #MBS mobile bowl stand series. The model can hold (1) 30-quart bowl or (1) 80-quart bowl. The 30-quart model measures 27″W x 27″L x 36″H, while the 80-quart model measures 32″W x 32″L x 36″H. IMC can accommodate other size bowls based on your specifications as well.

3. What Configurations Do They Come In?

Aside from size, IMC mobile bowl stands can be equipped with an undershelf or tray slides, or even both.

  • The undershelf is constructed of 18GA Type 304 stainless steel, fully welded to legs. Useful for extra bowls or storage for ingredients & supplies.
  • The tray slides are constructed of 14GA Type 304 stainless steel continuously welded to the legs. Tray slide units are equipped with (3) sets of slides. Useful for temporarily holding your trays while the stand is in use (or out of use).

No matter what configuration you choose, IMC mobile bowl stands are equipped with 1⅝” diameter 16GA tubular supports & 5” diameter casters. All made from type 304 stainless steel, there is no galvanized or plastic pieces – ever.

4. Any Maintenance Tips to be Aware of?

It may come as a surprise that mobile bowl stands require a bit of upkeep:

  1. Check to make sure your casters are in working order. There should be no hitching & they should travel smoothly. Without functioning casters, a mobile bowl stand is nearly worthless so always keep the casters well-maintained.
  1. Mobile bowl stands can become quite soiled as bowls are constantly being moved around inevitably leaving residue on the stand itself. Rigorous cleaning is essential to keep your stand sanitized. The standard stainless steel cleaning tips will apply, of course.
  1. Lastly, check for any damaged supports – there should be no twists or dents. Each support should be straight.

Mobile bowl stands are built to last. They are the perfect support piece for your kitchen lineup. Transporting & storing mixing bowls has never been so easy. To learn more about how IMC’s mobile bowl stands, click here.
