Let’s Dive Into Drink Rails

Through the hustle & bustle of any bar operation, liquids are always in play. With that said, spills & leaks are a given. How do you counteract this? Drink rails just might be the answer. But, how do they work exactly? What’s so special about them?
In this article, we’ll go over the purpose of drink rails then go over IMC’s solution. Let’s jump into it.
Why Do I Need a Drink Rail?
As mentioned, drink rails are designed to catch spills & drips. They help to protect your bar surface from liquid which can build up quickly.
The perforated grating is constructed to be inserted neatly in your drink rail to elevate glassware above the channel of the drink rail, while the openings allow liquids to fall into the channel below for easy drainage & cleanup.
The drainage channel at one end of the rail routes all liquids away from the surface so everything keeps dry.
IMC’s Drink Rail Solution
IMC manufactures Type 304 stainless steel drink rails for installation into your bar top surfaces. The body itself is constructed from 16-gauge stainless steel while the perforated grating is constructed from 18-gauge. The body has an integrated 7/8” OD drainage channel for quick discharge of liquids.
The grating itself has finger holes integrated into the design for easy removal & insertion – making cleanup a breeze. The depth of the drink rail itself is 1” with a 4” width as a standard. Length will vary based on your application.
In addition, custom shapes & sizes are also available to fit the unique needs of your top. Have a look at the spotlight below:

Is One Drink Rail Enough?
The short answer is – probably not.
Depending on the size of your operation & your anticipated workload, multiple drink rails will be needed to keep your area organized & liquid-free. Our recommendation is to install a drink rail every couple of feet apart from each other. Another option is to install one long drink rail around the whole curve of your bar top.
Every situation is different, try to assess your needs in advance.
Drink rails are a necessary item in any bar or virtually any establishment where serving drinks is a key part of business. IMC is your teammate in fabricating drink rails that will work for you. To learn more about how IMC’s drink rails, click here.
